Misconception: Ravens are too dependent on Mark Ingram:

There is also a false idea that the Ravens use and abuse Mark Ingram as a workhorse. The popularity of this idea has multiplied since Ingram’s injury played a factor in the playoff loss to the Titans. Here’s the thing though, Ingram never reached 20 carries in a game. He is an important player, but the Ravens don’t overwork him. They have other players that can chip in and make a big impact in the backfield. The playoff game was a culmination of everything going wrong. Ingram being hampered didn’t end the potential Super Bowl run; there’s a long list of factors to that heartbreak.

The fact of the matter is that the Ravens ran for 3,296 yards last season and Ingram accounted for just over 1,000 of those yards. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill combined for 936 yards. Having Hill fit into the backfield rotation may have deprived Edwards the chance to be the third 1,000 yard rusher of the 2019 Ravens. Do the Ravens run the ball a lot? Yes. Do the Ravens love Mark Ingram? Big Truss, they do. It’s just obvious that Ingram isn’t overly leaned on. In fact the opposite is true. Ingram was not over extended at all and he had the perfect amount of touches.

How to disprove this misconception: Let everybody shine

The easiest way for the Ravens to disprove this misconception is just letting everybody shine. The Ravens may or may not be over reliant on the run game, and truthfully they don’t really care if they are. Greg Roman loves to run the football. It’s just ignoring facts to say that the Ravens were too reliant on Ingram or that they worked him too hard. J.K. Dobbins stealing the show will help show the truth. The truth however, is that Ingram is a great running back with the perfect role carved out for him.
