The big guys in the trenches

Offensive Line: Trystan Colon-Castillo, Sean Pollard, Will Holden, Randin Creculis

If I were John Harbaugh right now, I would consider keeping more offensive linemen then in a typical season. The Ravens obviously didn’t put their eggs into one basket in terms of replacing Marshal Yanda. The Ravens are still looking at the menu and telling the waiter that they need more time. Having more options on the offensive line seems like a good thing. Trystan Colon-Castillo played center for Missouri. He’s a solid looking lineman who comes from the SEC, he could have potential. Pollard comes from Clemson and he’s a big bodied player who just needs to be coached up a bit. Of these two, Colon-Castillo may get the best chance because he’s a little more pro ready than Pollard. Both come from strong college football programs, so I’m at least intrigued.

Will Holden and Randin Creculis have a chance to make the team because they are offensive tackles. With Andre Smith opting out of the season, the Ravens don’t have a ton of offensive tackle depth. Tyre Phillips is probably a backup plan at right tackle. The Ravens have players who can play tackle, but having natural tackles waiting in the wings may not be a bad idea. That being said, Holden and Creculis aren’t all that much of an insurance policy. The Ravens have an overload of talent on the inside and they could make do without Holden and Creculis if they don’t earn their keep.

Defensive Line: No notable bubble players

I don’t really see a defensive linemen who has a chance to make the team past the players you already know are going to be there. The Ravens have Calais Campbell, Brandon Williams, Derek Wolfe, Justin Madubuike, Jihad Ward, Justin Ellis and Broderick Washington. Madubuike and Ward are backups at defensive end that will get plenty of time on the field.

Washington may be a bubble player, but the Ravens drafted him in the fifth round so he should get a shot. He’s a natural backup to Williams. Ellis is kind of the in between of what the Ravens have at nose guard and what they have at defensive end. They all have their purpose, that’s seven defensive linemen for a 3-4 defense. Maybe a player like Aaron Adeoye can get a final spot, but the Ravens are more or less set.
