Are the Ravens figured out?

@Ravensfan86 asks: I think there is enough body of evidence between playoff loss and last years playoff loss to scheme for Lamar. When that happened against Tennessee, Greg Roman had an entire off season to fix it. Will he though?

Answer: I wouldn’t say that Jackson and company are figured out. A good game plan from an opponent is going to challenge any team, but stopping Jackson is hard even with a good plan. When the Ravens get away from the run and become pass happy the efficiency gets taken right out of the offense because it’s built on the run game. That is true. If the Browns, or for that matter geek out to stop the run, and it works, it will not be ideal for the purple and black.

The Chargers playoff game however has nothing to do with the offense we saw last year. The play-calling in that season was by Marty Mornhinweg and Jackson wasn’t there yet. The Titans game is very much still in play in this conversation, yet the Ravens melted down more than anything. I don’t think there’s much for Roman and Jackson to fix. Everybody has bad days and you don’t want to tinker too much with an offense that won 14 games last season. Jackson wasn’t running a gimmick offense.

If you’re asking if the Ravens made adjustments for when they are faced with a struggle to run the football, I think the answer is yes. I think that scenario has been given a lot of thought this offseason. Last year was just the first year of this offense. It will grow over time and with the work ethic of Jackson and the creativity of Roman, Ravens fans should trust that the results should keep getting better.
