3.  A perfect shot at redemption:

The Ravens have a perfect shot at redemption. This is much like the Ravens going back to New England in the 2012 Super Bowl run and rewriting the outcome. If the Ravens are going to get to the Super Bowl, it had to start like this. If the Ravens are going to right the wrongs of a year ago, they needed a chance to battle the Titans.

Last year the Titans were the team that “figured out the Ravens.” All offseason long people talked about how they laid out a blueprint for beating Baltimore. Wouldn’t it be nice to topple the Titans? Wouldn’t it be nice to see Lamar Jackson get his first playoff win against the team that people thought had his number?

In 2012, the Ravens had a storybook kind of a Super Bowl championship. The journey was as impressive as the actual accomplishment and being Ray Lewis‘s last ride, it was a tale fit for a movie. There has been a lot of talk about how this season is starting to evoke the 2012 vibe. This feels like a team that can win it all. Starting the journey against the Titans would be the only way to make another movie worthy playoff run.

Would a rematch against the Pittsburgh Steelers be satisfying? Absolutely. This just feels like the way it has to be if the Ravens are going to do it this year. The Ravens had to conquer plenty of adversity this season, yet all year they wanted to get the taste of their last failure in the playoffs out of their mouths. This is their chance to redeem themselves. The matchup has given them a gift of a second attempt.

While the circumstances are different, the matchup is meaningful. It’s another playoff game against the Titans, something that has made memorable moments in this franchise’s history since the 2000 Super Bowl run. This is how the playoffs had to start, with the ultimate chance at redemption.
