The NFL season is fast approaching. Players are eager to begin reporting to training camp. The Baltimore Ravens held their first full-team training camp practice on Wednesday. However, one player not taking to the practice field is quarterback Lamar Jackson.

It was reported by Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo that Jackson was held out of practice due to COVID-19 issues.

It was later confirmed by Ravens head coach John Harbaugh that Jackson did test positive for COVID-19. Jackson had reportedly tested negative for days until yesterday.

There is no timetable for Jackson’s return. While the team goes through COVID-19 protocols, Jackson will remain out of practice until he clears.

Both Jackson and running back Gus Edwards — who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week — will be placed on the COVID list.

The Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson for the start of training camp.

This is not the first time Jackson has tested positive for COVID-19.

In November, COVID-19 ravaged the Ravens’ locker room. The outbreak caused a delay in the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers and numerous players missed the game as a result.

Jackson was one of the players who tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Week 12 matchup. Jackson would miss that game and return the following week.

Baltimore signed undrafted quarterback Kenji Bahar to the 90-man roster on Wednesday before the news broke that Jackson would miss practice.

Bahar was on the team’s minicamp roster before being released in June. The Monmouth product becomes the fourth quarterback added to the training camp roster.

Until Jackson can return to practice, it looks like Bahar, Trace McSorley, and Tyler Huntley will be taking snaps under center.

While it remains unclear when Jackson will be back with the team, it looks like the organization has a good grasp of the situation and is following the rules and regulations required.
