It’s not every season that the two top teams in the NFL get to face off in primetime in Week 16, but that’s what we have on Christmas Day with the Baltimore Ravens taking on the San Francisco 49ers.

Both teams are the No. 1 seed in their respective conferences, and the 49ers have not lost a game since their bye week. Baltimore, on the other hand, has a real chance to lock up the No. 1 seed in the AFC this season, especially if the team can win this game.

Brock Purdy and Lamar Jackson are the two favorites for the NFL’s MVP award, so this matchup may not only decide who finishes with the best record in the NFL.

Ravens vs. 49ers key players to watch

Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson: Jackson is elite as an underdog in his career (11-2 against the spread), and he has a chance to make an MVP statement in this game. Right now, Jackson and Brock Purdy are the top two candidates for the league’s MVP award, so the winner will likely get a massive boost in that market.

San Francisco 49ers

Deebo Samuel: Has there been a better player that last few weeks than Deebo Samuel? The 49ers star has eight touchdowns over his last four games, scoring at least twice in three straight matchups. He’s a tough player to deal with for any defense, but this is a great matchup against a Ravens team that is No. 1 in points allowed and yards per play allowed.

Ravens vs. 49ers prediction and pick

I absolutely love the Ravens to at least cover the spread in this game, as the Jackson spread trend is one of the best in the NFL.

I still think the Ravens are undervalued here, even though the 49ers have been dominant since coming off of their bye week.

Baltimore already won outright as an underdog this season against Cincy, and the team has been impressive against the spread at 9-5 in 2023.

Oddsmakers may be undervaluing the Ravens in this game on multiple fronts. First off, the team has the best defense in the NFL, ranking No. 1 in points allowed and opponent yards per play this season.

Does that mean they’ll shut down the 49ers? Probably not, but the team has as good a shot as anyone to do so.

The second is how they’ll attack the 49ers defense. San Francisco is exploitable on the ground, allowing 4.3 yards per carry this season, and the Ravens’ preferred method of attack is on the ground.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Baltimore slow this game down and find itself covering the 5.5 points.
