McAlister Done for the Season

Chris McAlister, a former Pro Bowl-level cornerback and integral piece of the Ravens defensive dynasty over the last several seasons, will undergo season-ending knee surgery.

McAlister and head coach John Harbaugh had their problems over the last few games, culminating in a blowout loss against the Indianapolis Colts in which McAlister gave up two long touchdowns to Marvin Harrison. It was a stark contrast to the first four games in which he collected three interceptions, but not unusual, as McAlister is infamous for jumping routes and allowing long passes.

For what it’s worth, it doesn’t seem like the Ravens will miss a beat without him. The tandem of Frank Walker, Corey Ivy and Fabian Washington has proven to be more than a flimsy Band-Aid in the absense of McAlister and Samari Rolle, who looks to return this Sunday after missing the last six games.

So we say all that to say two things: the Ravens will be okay at corner, and thank God they didn’t pull the trigger on DeAngelo “Man on Fire” Hall.
