Four Veteran Receivers at Mini-Camp

Jerry Porter, Kelley Washington, D.J. Hackett and Tab Perry will work out at the Ravens mini-camp.

Porter is the former Oakland Raider who was always flashy and had potential, but something always held him back from having a great year, whether or not it was the law or injury.  His best season was in 2007 with Oakland, with 705 yards and 6 touchdowns. He will turn 31 in July.

Washington will be 30 by Week 1, and did basically nothing last year with 1 catch for 3 yards with the Patriots.  The former Bengal has a total of 73 receptions, 896 yards and 9 touchdowns in his career.  In 1997, he was taken in the 10th round of the MLB Draft by the Marlins, with whom he spent four years playing minor league baseball as a shortstop.

D.J. Hackett, who will be 28 by Week 1, was most recently with the Panthers, after signing a 3-year contract with the team, but was released by Carolina in February.  More known for his time with the Seahawks, Hackett has a career total of 118 receptions for 1,575 yards and 9 touchdowns.

And finally, at 27 years of age,  Perry as most of us remember, was a former Bengal.  He is mostly a return specialist, and has never amounted to much as a receiver.  He could be the replacement for Yamon Figurs if Figurs manages to lose his starting job.

All of these receivers are possible candidates for the team, but in my opinion, the most likely are Perry and Hackett, as Perry is a great return man and Hackett has the best track record.
