Player Spotlight: Graham Gano

The undrafted free agent kicker,  who signed almost immediately after the draft, is one of my personal favorite college kickers.  He will be competing with Steve Hauschka for the starting job, and has a great leg.

• Gano was born in Scotland
• Will be 22 by Week 1
• At 6’1″, 192 pounds, Gano is a big guy
• Was a punter and kickoff specialist his first three years at Florida State
• Was regarded as one of the nation’s best punters in the three years
• Was 24-26 in field goals in his senior year
• Only 2 missed field goals were from 52 and 54 yards
• Made 10 field goals past 40 yards
• Won the Lou Groza Award for the country’s best kicker
• Scored the most points of any player in the ACC
• At one point in the season, had made 5 consecutive field goals past 5o yards
• Made every extra point

A bit Stover-esque in terms of his accuracy, but also has a great leg.  I think he will eventually win the battle, but he might struggle initially.
