Adam Terry Placed On IR

Adam Terry will be out for the 2009 season after being placed on the IR with a right knee injury.  Apparently, the specific injury isn’t yet fully known or just hasn’t been disclosed, because the team’s official site says that the injury “could” require microfracture surgery.  This means that Michael Oher has less competition for a starting right tackle job than expected, unless Marshal Yanda, who in my opinion, is much better than Terry, plays so well that he overtakes Oher on the depth chart.  We’ll see how this offensive line turns out, it’s got as much talent and potential/upside as any in the league right now, and should mesh well and be solid for years to come, as I’ve been preaching on this blog for the whole offseason.

Graham Gano has been impressive, as has Steve Hauschka in camp, and it may come down to preseason performance to determine who will nab the starting job.  Sam Koch has not been holding for Gano though, and starting long snapper Matt Katula also if off-duty currently, so Gano (and Hauschka) are going to learn quickly in training camp that you can’t be too comfortable with anything as an NFL kicker.
