Brandon Marshall Suspended For Preseason

facebooktwitterreddit

Brandon Marshall, Broncos stud wide receiver, has been suspended for the remainder of the preseason because of “conduct detrimental to the team.”  In basic terms, he wasn’t taking practice seriously and throwing a fit like a moody 6-year old girl.  He was swatting passes away when they were thrown to his hands, and he later punted a ball after going through a quickness drill.

Josh McDaniels, a guy who came from no-nonsense New England, has refused to give in to Marshall’s contract demands and has demoted him to 2nd team during practice, is holding a press conference around 1 o’clock.  After the team dealt Jay Cutler because McDaniels doubted his ability publicly, they are now totally screwing up their team by suspending their best player, who only wants a new contract that he deserves more than any player in the NFL.

This suspension now leads to the re-ignition (is that the right word?) of Marshall to Baltimore rumors.  From what I gathered, the offer would be something like Troy Smith, Demetrius Williams, a 1st round pick this year and a high pick next year.  With this suspension, the offering team would most likely have more leverage, but might also be more desperate.  The Jets have also been linked, but in my opinion, a deal isn’t going to happen, because that’s exactly what Marshall wants the Broncos to do.  Also, if the Ravens did trade for him, they’d need to sign him to a huge new contract, and it would be one of the NFL’s top three contracts for a receiver, because I don’t think Mr. Big Ego will like having Roddy White being paid more than him.

That’s all for now, check back tonight for another College Football Preview.
