Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans: The Impact of Ben Tate and Ricky Williams

facebooktwitterreddit

Both the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans have a premier runningback. Ray Rice and Arian Foster have been accumulating tons of yards this year and their play on the field speaks for it self. But when Rice or Foster needs a breather, two backs are ready to go.

The Ravens rely on veteran Ricky Williams to compliment Ray Rice while the Texans do the same with young Ben Tate out of Auburn. Both have been tremendous for their respective teams this year and I look for them to make an impact tomorrow.

While Ben Tate has had a far more impressive season than Ricky Williams as far as numbers go, Williams is still a very reliable backup. Williams scored his first touchdown as a Raven against the Texans earlier this year and will look to do so again today. Tate had 41 yards in that game and was a nice change of pace to Foster who couldn’t get much done on the ground.

Tate has looked excellent this season, getting close to 1000 yards despite being a back up. While Foster still runs the show, Tate should see some carries tomorrow and make the most of them. Williams has been quiet this season but he’s still very valuable to the Ravens. He’s a very good pass protecter and receiver out of the back field and will hit those small creases when they appear.

I look for them both to see some action today, but who do you think will have the biggest impact?
