Peter Konz really struggled today.

on field drills havent even started yet but Peter Konz(C, Wisconsin) already has some ground to make up.

the consensus top Center in the draft caused a bit of a stir at weigh in which produced conflicting reports, some analysts that were present reported that he looked good and others that he looked smaller than he usually plays, as if he hadnt been working out and had lost some of his muscle tone. that sentiment seemed to be backed up once he got to the bench press where he managed only 18 reps. the only offensive lineman to register lower numbers were Andrew Tiller(T, Syracuse with 16) and Matt McCanns(G, Alabama-Birmingham with 17).

His Bench numbers wouldnt be a concern if it werent for the fact that he has had shoulder injuries in the past and has twice had shoulder surgeries(once in his senior year of highschool). multiple shoulder surgeries mixed with a pathetic showing in the bench press raises serious questions about his upper body strength and is a major red flag moving forward. i wouldnt be surprised at all if he attempted the bench press again at his pro day to try and redeem himself. Konz needs to starte performing like the top C in the draft or he could fall out of the first round. the good news for Ravens fans is that if this is an indicator of how his weekend is going to go then it wouldnt be terribly shocking to see Konz fall well into the second round.
