Ravens Should Pass On Vontaze Burfict

Coming into the NFL Scouting Combine, many were really high on Vontaze Burfict, the linebacker form Arizona State. Projections put him late in the first round and it looked like the Baltimore Ravens could get a steal. Some even went as far to call him the heir to Ray Lewis. But after his dismal combine performance, he may have been knocked out of the first round entirely…

Weighing in at 248 lbs at the combine, twelve pounds less than listed, you’d expect Burfict to put up a better forty at lighter weight. However, it was quite the contrary. The average of his two forties was 5.01 which is terrible for a linebacker of his stature. I was expecting at least a 4.7 and this definitely hurts his draft stock.

Additionally, many scouts said his selfish and cocky attitude doesn’t bode well for his future. In personal interviews, scouts said that they would stay away from him. Apparently, he threw his former coaching staff under the bus and is far from a team player. This doesn’t fit the mold of a Baltimore Raven and he’s totally off my draft board.
