2012 NFL Draft: Ravens Round Two Predictions

The first three picks of the second round belong to the St. Louis Rams, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Ravens. I have Courtney Upshaw going to the Ravens but the Colts scare me a little for a few reasons. Former Ravens Defensive Coordinator and new Colts’ head coach Chuck Pagano would love to add a big defensive pass rusher to complement his aggressive style of play and may be thinking about taking Upshaw. They do want a tightend to pair up with Andrew Luck and Coby Fleener would make quite the dynamic duo. It’s assumed that the Rams will probably go receiver as they originally were interested in Justin Blackmon and are weak at the position. I’d rule them out of the Upshaw conversation but there could be some teams willing to leapfrog the Ravens and Colts to grab Upshaw before they get a chance at him. However, it seems like a done deal that they’ll be taking a receiver.

The Ravens would also love to get a wide receiver and there’s plenty available. Georgia Tech’s Stephen Hill has been a popular name in Baltimore but there’s some other big names like Alshon Jeffery, Mohamed Sanu, and Rueban Randle. Another possibility is offensive line. Jonathan Martin is still on the board as is Wisconsin’s Peter Konz, who was the favorite for the Ravens in many mock drafts. I also wouldn’t rule them trading back again as many of these players could drop late into the second round. If they Ravens can get a player they want plus some more picks, I would be ecstatic.
