Here is what the guys had to say about the pick.

"Ed Reed isn’t getting younger, so the Ravens should start looking for their next ball-hawking, physical safety. Elam is a hot name in scouting circles and could be that guy."

I Do like Elam. He is a very solid player and he has been flying all around the field all year for Florida. He is a playmaker plain and simple. Similar to the previous mock draft with Kasheem Green from Rutgers though, I am not sure Elam is a particularly strong value at this point in the draft given the Ravens obvious needs along the defensive line. The Ravens DL has been a complete disaster all year and this is one of the strongest DL drafts in recent memory. it wouldnt be surprising to see 9+ defensive lineman taken in the first round and around 35+ taken overall. There will be very strong value there. that said, if Elam has a really strong combine and pre-draft season, then he could be flying up the boards. One thing that could hold him back is his size, he is only 5’10 which is about 2 inches shorter than the average safety, that said, Ed Reed is only 5’11” and he has done just fine as a pro.
