The Ravens Suffered a crushing defeat for the second straight week today when they failed to close a game. Leading by 8 with four minutes left to play the defense just couldn’t step up. They allowed an 85 yard TD drive, then a 2 point conversion and the Redskins forced OT. The Ravens offense did absolutely nothing with their first and what would be their only possession in OT and the punt coverage unit had a major breakdown and allowed a big return which set the Redskins up for the game winning field goal.

This is the type of loss that leaves a very very bad taste in your mouth because the Ravens were the better team and should have won. They just blew it when they had the chance.

Flacco and Rice both had pretty good games. Flacco had 3 TDs but also turned the ball over twice and Rice had 1 TD and 177 yards rushing. Anquan Boldin had 2 TDs and in yet another week Torrey Smith has played a disappearing act and registered just 1 catch for 21 yards.

They ended up catching what has to be considered an enormous break though because both the Bengals and the Steelers lost their games this week meaning that the Ravens still have a 2 game lead over both of them with 3 games left to play. A win next week would win the division thanks to the Ravens owning tiebreakers over both teams(AFC North record, AFC Record, Record among common opponents). If the Patriots also lose, the Race for the number 2 seed will also have almost remained unchanged with only the Broncos winning, and the Ravens will have a shot at the broncos next week at M&T.
