Combine Weigh Ins: Defense, Linebackers Come In Big

facebooktwitterreddit

The Combine is in full swing and the first eyebrow raisers are already in. Every LB prospect in the building with the exceptions of Sean Porter, Kiko Alonso, Zavier Gooden, John Lotulelei, Brandon MaGee, Nick Moody, Kieth Pough, Bruce Taylor, Mike Taylor and Tom Wort came in over 240 lbs. Most of the listed players arent highly rated players, the rest were pretty much expected to come in light. The real surprise is that many backers who were considered undersized have bulked up considerably.

The biggest Surprise was Kasheem Green weighing in at 241. just one month ago he weighed in 236 at the Senior Bowl and a month before that he was playing at 228. Green is about to shoot up boards if he proves he hasnt lost any footspeed or quickness because of the added weight. I did not have Green even listed as an ILB prospect for a 3-4 defense because of his size, but it is time for that to change as long as he runs well. Green came in at the same weight and one inch taller than Manti Teo.

Arthur Brown also came in at 241 and looks really bulked up and strong. Brown has long been considered a guy that might be a first rounder if he bulked up and right now it looks like he has. Like Green he must run well to show he can handle the extra weight, but he looked physically imposing and impressive today. I will be adding him to the Ravens watch list and i look forward to watching him work out on Monday.
