The Denver Post is reporting that the Baltimore Ravens have entered into negotiations with Elvis Dumervil and it looks like they are getting the first shot at him as a free agent.

This is huge news for the Ravens. Dumervil is the best free agent on the market and he has a proven record as a sack master. I said last week that i felt that if Dumervil were added to the roster that He and Suggs would be the most prolific pass rush duo that the team had ever fielded and I stand by that. It would also end all of the James Harrison to the Ravens talk. Harrison and Dumervil are likely to command similar amounts of money, but at this point in their careers, Dumervil is a far far superior player.

This is all just rumors, but it has to be considered a good sign if the Ravens truly are in negotiations already. It means that not only is there mutual interest between Dumervil and the Ravens, but that Dumervil is probably not headed back to Denver which is where he really wants to be. This is a continually evolving story and news could break that the Ravens signed him in 10 minutes, or it could be 2 weeks before some other team gets him. There is no real timeline to this thing right now.
