As I indicated earlier today, The Ravens have a deal now in place with FA ILB Rolando McClain.

As Reported, the deal is a one year deal, the deal is worth just $700,000. McClain will fly to Baltimore on Friday to take his physical, Meet with Ozzie Newsome and John Harbaugh and sign on the dotted line. McClain will be discussing the teams expectations of him, both on and off the field, before he signs on Friday.

This offseason has gone pretty well for the Ravens so far, they lost 2 ILBs and now have signed the most talented(not best) ILB on the market, just like when they lost Kruger and replaced him with the best OLB on the market. McClains deal is very low dollar and essentially will act as a “prove it” contract, which, if McClain plays well and behaves himself, will likely be turned into a bigger contract for the future.

the deal is essentially a vet minimum one year deal. I was orgionally against signing McClain, but much of that was because I thought he would command something in the 1.5-2 million per year range. The Ravens signing him for scraps is really a win win for both sides. The Ravens get a potential starter for almost nothing and McClain gets a better chance to redeem himself that he could have gotten with any other team.
