The PUP list is out but it is no reason to freak out in Ravens Nation…

Its time for training camp. The Ravens just announced the PUP list. No, this is not a list of adorable canines. It means Physically Unable to Perform. The Ravens put six players on the PUP list. While some big names are on the list, it is nothing to freak out about.

The PUP List

  1. Terrell Suggs
  2. Elvis Dumervil
  3. Steve Smith Sr.
  4. Breshad Perriman
  5. Trent Richardson
  6. Jumal Rolle

There’s nothing in this list that we did not already know. Suggs is expected to be back for the regular season. Even if Suggs was ready to go now, there would be no point of pushing it.

More from Ebony Bird

Elvis Dumervil is recovering from an offseason surgery on his foot. Dumervil may not be ready to go now, but this is not something that will hamper him for long. We knew that we probably would not see Steve Smith Sr. until the regular season.

Breshad Perriman is expected to play at some point. I’ll believe it when I see it. That being said, we should be used to waiting on that man by now.

Trent Richardson being hurt should not get anyone all that upset. Richardson has a stiff hill to climb just to make the team. If we were all in a room together, I’d ask you to raise your hands if you knew who Jumal Rolle was. The small amount of hands in the air would speak to the severity of his “PUP-ness.”

The good news is that Joe Flacco is ready for training camp. This is huge. His week 11 injury gave the Ravens plenty to be worried about. If Ravens fans knew he would be ready to participate at the start of training camp, there would have been much relief in Ravens Nation.

Now Flacco can knock off the rust on the practice field. He can get acquainted with the Ravens new weapons. The purple and black can start to work out the offensive kinks right away.

The moral of the story is that we cannot overreact to the PUP list. We knew the Ravens were coming into camp banged up. The season from hell  just had to have lingering affects. Every injury is something to keep an eye on. It’s not like it’s all rainbows and sunshine at “The Castle” right now. That being said, the season will still start with new hope.
