After moving on from John Harbaugh, the Baltimore Ravens entered a new era. Harbaugh wasn't the only one who left Baltimore this offseason, though. Multiple starters on both sides of the ball needed to be replaced, and general manager Eric DeCosta had limited cap space to work with.
His answer was to make multiple low-cost additions through free agency, filling out his roster with capable starters and relying on his new coaching staff to make the difference.
Through five weeks of the regular season, not all of those bets have paid off.
2 Baltimore Ravens offseason additions who have proved their worth
EDGE Trey Hendrickson
The Ravens needed an ace pass-rusher this offseason, and that's exactly what Trey Hendrickson has been so far. He has missed time with a finger injury, which he is expected to return from in Week 6, but he's been excellent when healthy.
He leads the Ravens in total pressures with 14 despite missing two games. Hendrickson is the third-down closer that this team was looking for.
DL Calais Campbell
Time comes for us all. Unless you're Calais Campbell, in which case aging is more of a suggestion than a hard-and-fast rule. The 40-year-old defender is still playing at a high level after signing with the Ravens this offseason.
Campbell may not have a sack yet this season, but he has been consistently impactful. He was at his best in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys, when he produced six pressures and a run stop. The veteran has helped the Ravens' banged-up interior defensive line stay afloat.
2 Baltimore Ravens offseason additions who look like flops so far
G John Simpson
The Ravens completely replaced their interior offensive line this offseason, and the results have been mixed to say the least. While Vega Ioane looks like an anchor up front, John Simpson has struggled to find his footing.
While he has been decent in the running game, Simpson has been unable to hold up as a pass protector. He has allowed seven pressures this year, which is the most among Baltimore's interior linemen. He has been passable, but his $30 million contract looks like an overpay at this point.
S Jaylinn Hawkins
Jaylinn Hawkins turned in a career year with the New England Patriots in 2025, and he took advantage of it by signing a two-year, $10 million deal with the Ravens in free agency. Unfortunately for Baltimore, he hasn't been able to maintain his level of play from last season.
He has allowed a passer rating of 143.9 when targeted. Of 93 qualifying safeties, that mark ranks 83rd. Hawkins has consistently been a weak spot in pass defense for the Ravens, keeping Jesse Minter's unit from reaching its potential.
