Terrence Cody to Work Out With Ravens
By Joe Barnes
Terrence Cody, the defensive tackle out of Alabama, will be working out with the Ravens as they consider their draft options. After losing starting defensive end Dwan Edwards and backup defensive tackle Justin Bannan to Free Agency, the team is looking for some defensive line help in the draft. Cody has been thought of as a very good 3-4 nose tackle, and was a huge reason for the success Nick Saban’s Alabama defense has had the last two seasons.
A lot of, if not most of, the discussion about Cody has been his weight. Cody was over 400 pounds in junior college, 370 at the Senior Bowl and 348 at his Pro Day in Tuscaloosa. The main spark for most of this talk was this picture, taken during Cody’s weigh-in at the Combine. It seems very encouraging that he’s lost 22 pounds since the Senior Bowl, which helps with quickness and explosiveness off the line. While he will not be a top-10 pick like defensive tackles Ndamokung Suh and Gerald McCoy, he is a legitimate first round prospect if he continues his impressive work.
Programming Note: There will be no internet-wide mock draft today, but hopefully I will complete that sometime this week. A simple 1st Round mock will also go up sometime this week.
