It Was Fun While It Lasted…

It is with a fair amount of sadness that I make this announcement, but all good things must come to an end, right?

This will be my last post on EbonyBird.com. After exactly two years, 490 posts, 44 Ravens games to write about, and many friends made, I’m leaving the site that has held my sometimes sloppy, mostly average, and almost-never brilliant thoughts and writings from the last two years.

When I took over the blog on December 12th, 2008, I was staggering awkwardly in the footsteps of Jarrett Carter, the blogging extraordinaire that presided over this same site since its inception in November 2007. With the help of Jarrett, FanSided co-founders Adam and Zach Best, and many others in the ever-welcoming Ravens blogosphere, I got comfortable extremely quickly, and I quickly became the proud owner of a burgeoning Ravens blog.

Huge thanks have to go out to Adam and Zach who gave me this opportunity two years ago, and who are the geniuses behind the ever-growing FanSided Network, which is sure to be a big name in sports media for years to come. Additionally, the very talented group of Ravens bloggers I’ve been able to collaborate with and get to know and talk football with regularly were a big reason for why I’ve enjoyed the last two years on here so much. Most of all, the devoted readers who commented on posts, chatted with me on Twitter, emailed me with story tips, participated in the live blogs, you’re the reason for blogging, and you’ve made this experience so worthwhile.

I have no complaints and no regrets about the last two years here. I hate to leave now, just as the season gets interesting and intense, but I feel like it’s time. As you’ve seen, I have many other things on my plate, leaving very little time to blog. I don’t like that I’ve had to throw blogging to the back burner, and I hoped that I could get back into the swing of things at some point, but that just doesn’t appear likely. Casey will be taking over as lead writer, so the blog will be in good hands.

Thank you for an awesome two years, I’ve loved every second of it.
