Three Defensive Touchdowns Lead Ravens To Victory Against Jets

The Ravens were noted for their offensive explosiveness last week, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter. This week the Ravens took a different approach by setting a franchise record with three defensive touchdowns against the New York Jets.

The first offensive play for the New York Jets resulted in a sack fumble by Ed Reed which was then recovered by Jameel McClain for a touchdown. Later in the second quarter, Haloti Ngata caused another sack fumble which was recovered by Jarret Johnson who took it 26 yards to the house. After a Joe Flacco fumble in the third quarter, the Jets looked to capitalize on great field position to stay in the game. While trying to hit Santonio Holmes, Mark Sanchez didn’t see Lardarius Webb who picked off the ball and took it the other way for six points. It put the nail in the coffin as the Jets were unable to recover from such a momentum shift.

The Ravens showed why they’re one of the league’s most dominate teams yesterday. They can beat you on both sides of the balls and will capitilize on turnovers. The Ravens will now enter the bye on a high note as they prepare for the Houston Texans in week 6. Lee Evans, Ben Grubbs and Jimmy Smith should heal up during this bye week and return to action against the Texans.
