Ravens Officially Release Cornerback Domonique Foxworth
By Riley B
While it was rumored that the Baltimore Ravens would cut Foxworth on Friday along with fellow cornerback Chris Carr and wide receiver Lee Evans, the front office waited until Monday to cut him officially. Foxworth spent the entire 2010 season on the injured reserve with a torn ACL and missed the majority of 2009 with the same injury. While he’s not a Raven at the moment, there’s still a chance he could return.
Foxworth had about a $7 million salary heading into 2012. Because of his lack of contribution due to injury, the Ravens could not afford to keep him on the team at this price. There’s still a possibility that he can be re-signed at a lower price. The Ravens secondary looks a lot different then it did a few years ago. After the release of Carr and Foxworth, the remaining cornerbacks are Lardarius Webb, Cary Williams, Jimmy Smith, Danny Gorrer and Chykie Brown.
