Baltimore Ravens Begin OTAs: What To Look For

The Baltimore Ravens will begin their organized team activities today. While not mandatory, many Ravens will be there to build camaraderie with their teammates. The OTAs will last until Thursday.

Although he still doesn’t have a new contract, QB Joe Flacco is expected to attend the activities. However, don’t expect RB Ray Rice to be there as he is still trying to get signed long term. Ray Rice will be signed before Flacco, but it looks like that won’t happen until mid-summer.

The Ravens have acquired a lot of wide receivers this offseason, but very few have NFL experience. While Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith have the positions locked down at one and two, the third slot position is up for grabs. Will it be the former Texan Jacoby Jones, the young LaQuan Williams, or a rookie like Tommy Streeter. Whoever it is, the OTAs will give the Ravens a better idea of where they stand at WR.

The Ravens suffered a crushing blow when Terrell Suggs tore his ACL this offseason. The big question now is who will replace him. The likely candidates are Paul Kruger, Sergio Kindle, or rookie Courtney Upshaw. It will be a fierce competition that starts today.

The biggest question mark on the team is left guard as the departure of pro-bowler Ben Grubbs hurt the Ravens significantly. Rookies Kelechi Osemele and Gino Grakowski are possible candidates but Jah Reid may move inside as he has more experience.
