The player I’m most excited to watch to night is without a doubt QB Tyrod Taylor. The Baltimore Ravens drafted the former Virginia Tech Hokie in the sixth round of last year’s draft and he saw little action last year except in the preseason. With no real offseason last year, Taylor had little time to grow and learn the playbook and wasn’t able to showcase his talents. With a full offseason this year, coaches have been praising Tyrod Taylor and his mobile abilities as a quarterback.
It’s easy to compare Tyrod Taylor to Michael Vick, given their similar mobility and alma mater. Taylor has a big arm and breakaway speed, but has shown that he’s capable of making tight and accurate throws downfield. His athleticism is his biggest asset which should allow him to get on the field in various positions throughout the season. But tonight, it will be all about his quarterbacking skills. Taylor should play the majority of the game after Joe Flacco plays for the first quarter or so. Peyton Manning’s former backup, Curtis Painter, will also see some time under center.
