In a move that surprised no one, the Steelers have officially ruled Big Ben and Lamar Woodley Out. Woodley was banged up when his ankle got rolled in the second quarter of last weeks game against the Browns, Ben wasn’t able to deliver the ball with enough zip, accuracy or velocity. In all honesty, it seemed like Ben could have played, but not only would he have been playing through tremendous pain and wouldnt have been at 100%(or probably even 50%). Ben sitting is the best move for the Steelers because they can’t afford to lose ben for the season if he re-injures himself in the game.
The other big injury scratch was Mike Adams. I reported this early this week and again, this move was no surprise. Adams suffered a high ankle sprain during the Browns game, He is likely out 3-4 weeks.
In the place of the injured players Charlie Batch will start at QB, this might be the last start or playtime of his career. Jason Worrlids will start at OLB, he has played well and is an up and comer. Mike Adams position will be filled by a guy you probably haven’t ever heard of. He is a seventh round rookie named Kelvin Beachum, a guard from Southern Methodist(SMU). If I am Dean Pees, I am going to be relentless on this kid.
