Ravens 7 Patriots 13- Halftime notes

Jan 20, 2013; Foxboro, MA, USA; Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice (27) carries the ball as New England Patriots outside linebacker Dont

The Ravens have escaped a poor first half just trailing by 6 and getting the ball to start the second half. They should consider themselves very lucky because outside of one series by the offense they have been completely outplayed thus far.

-Tom brady made me highly pissed when he took a cheap shot at Ed Reed kicking at his knee during a slide. That is about as low as it gets and there wasn’t a single flag. The Pats have had every call so far but the Ravens are still holding on.

– Jimmy smith has played pretty well, he came in for Chykie Brown after Brown blew a coverage that allowed a Welker TD, Smith has had one INT glance off his fingers and he was in position to make another had Brady not overthrown his WR by about 5 yards. Smith had 1 INT last year in the AFC Championship.

– Paul Kruger has been unblockable so far and has gotten a few hurries. this looks very similar to last weeks game and I expect the pass rush to start hitting home at some point.

-Flacco needs to be throwing more. he has just 12 attempts and on the drive where he went 7-7, the Ravens easily marched down the field and scored a TD.  the Ravens need to set him loose against the mediocre Patriots secondary.

– The ravens need a strong second half now, but they are right in the thick of things. a score to start the second half followed by any type of stop(including a long FG) would be a huge momentum swing for them. if the Ravens get better field position from here in, they will be in a very good position.
