Its time to dust off an old classic, The Ravens most wanted list. Long time readers might remember this from the past 2 years. basically this is a list of what i think are the Ravens top five targets in the first and second rounds. We start at 5th target in the 2nd round and work our way all the way down to the number 1 first round target. Lets get it going!

Today We focus on one of the more quietly polarizing players in the draft. Eric Reid, FS, LSU.

Reid hasnt been in a ton of media conversations(unless you watch Daniel Jeremiah and Charles Davis argue about him constantly), but he has quietly created one of the biggest rifts among scouts of any player. Some love Reids incredible size and athleticism and bank on his upside. Charles Davis has said repeatedly that he he would take him in the top-15. Others cite his inconsistent tape and absurd number of missed tackles in 2012 as reasons why he should be a high upside pick in the late second or third round. I tend to side with the latter.

in 2011 when Reid had an elite corner and the best safety in the nation as members of his secondary, he looked like a future top 10 pick. In 2012, he was a shell of his former self. He missed tackles, took terrible angles on everything and clearly was overwhelmed by the load of being the featured player in the LSU secondary. Compounding those flaws is that fact that the SEC doesnt have a huge number of elite QB prospects. Bray had a solid season and obviously Manziel is special, but outside of that they didnt really play a really good QB. despite that Reid was consistantly looked off and forced to bite on fakes.

Reid is a project who basically needs a complete overhaul on his coverage technique, but his athleticism and intelligence will allow him to adapt and probably become a starter for years to come. I don’t believe he is worth a first rounder, but it isn’t a bad idea to take a chance on him here.
