The Ravens already traded for one player on the Jacksonville Jaguars, and that was offensive tackle Eugene Monroe.

While the Jaguars are in this fire sale sort of mood, could another one of their players interest the Ravens?

Here’s looking at you, Cecil Shorts.

Out of all the possible scenarios, trading for Cecil Shorts would make sense for the Ravens. Shorts would come in and instantly fill the void that was left by Anquan Boldin when the Ravens traded him to the San Francisco 49ers. Also, Shorts would provide the long-term stability at the number two receiver spot, opposite of Torrey Smith, since he is only 25 years old.

While it makes a ton of sense for the Ravens, it may not for the Jaguars. They may just want to hang on to Shorts since he is a cheap contract, which doesn’t end until the 2015 year. Also, if the Jaguars do find their quarterback in the draft next year, then he already has a viable target coming in.

In other words, don’t expect Shorts to suit up for the Ravens before this year’s trade deadline. However, never say never since crazier things have happened.
