Turf Toe: Mike Tomlin Says He’s Sorry

So, Steelers Head Coach, Mike Tomlin says he’s sorry for making such a dumb blunder.

In case you’ve been living in a cave for the past five days, you know the blunder in question is Mike Tomlin “accidentally” stepping on to the field of play as Jacoby Jones was streaking toward a touchdown last Thursday. Tomlin’s “accident” caused Jones to change course and get tackled.

Then, Tomlin “accidentally” smiled wider than Warren Sapp’s waist line.

No yellow flag from the ref who actually had to run behind Tomlin to follow the play. So far, no penalty from the NFL, although rumors suggest the punishment could range anywhere from a huge fine, to losing a draft pick, to being forced to listen to Justin Bieber music for three days straight – the latter of which would be considered cruel and unusual punishment in any land.

It’s hard to say if Tomlin’s “accident” was indeed an “accident, but thank God he did it.

His turkey trot on to the field during the game helped inspire a bunch of creative Tomlin two-step photos including Mike on Soul Train, in Michael Jackson’s Thriller video and, my favorite, in a scene from the original Karate Kid. Priceless!

Sometime soon, Tomlin will likely have extra room in his wallet, as the NFL will fill its Christmas bonus stocking thanks to him. Will the Steelers lose a draft pick? Not likely.

Perhaps Tomlin’s biggest and best punishment is yet to come. That would be the day next season the Steelers return to M&T Bank Stadium. Raven’s fans will have a field day with him.

For now, enjoy the parody pictures on Facebook and the fact that the Steelers are likely done for the season. Now that is something to be thankful for!
