According to multiple reports on Twitter the Carolina Panthers are expected to release wide receiver Steve Smith. Smith’s most likely landing spot could be with the Baltimore Ravens. Even though general manager Ozzie Newsome just re-signed  Jacoby Jones, this could be a very likely scenario. If Smith does end up in Baltimore it shouldn’t be for anything more than a one or two year deal. Heading into the 2014 season Smith be age 35.

Smith is still one of the better receivers in the league but he never had any help at the position. With Jones and Torey Smith, this offense would become even more dynamic. Add in Pitta and a hopefully better Ray Rice in 2014 and this team should be able to challenge Cincinnati for the top spot in the AFC North. Steve Smith’s name came up more often than not in trade rumors but since no team has emerged as potential suitor he will be released from his contract.
