Ravens Could Be Looking At Brandon Flowers

ESPN reporter Jamison Hensley is reporting that he expects the Ravens to show interest in former Chief cornerback Brandon Flowers. The Ravens have a hole at their third cornerback spot after letting Corey Graham walk in free agency.

“This is the type of rare opportunity in June that general manager Ozzie Newsome typically pounces on. Flowers is 28 years old and would’ve ranked among the top 20 free agents if he was on the market in March.”

It is quite rare to see a young, Pro Bowl CB sitting there for the taking. The Chiefs reportedly tried to get some sort of compensation via trade, but his contract was a snag in negotiations.

Flowers proved to be a bad scheme fit in KC, proving too small to be a press corner. It made sense from their standpoint to let him go, but it also creates a fantastic opportunity for another team that doesn’t play press coverage to snatch him up.

Hopefully the Ravens can make a play here, but cap space is at a premium right now. The Ravens have around $4.6 million available. But if anybody can make something happen, it’s Ozzie Newsome. Let’s hope he can work some magic, as picking up a Pro Bowl CB in his prime would be quite the coup.
