Kamar Aiken is fighting for a roster spot at what is perhaps the most crowded position in Ravens training camp, wide receiver.  So we wouldn’t blame you for immediately writing him off for a roster spot.  But Aiken is not going to go quietly into the night, so it seems.  Aiken may force the Ravens to keep six, or even seven receivers on the roster if he keeps making plays.

“He is explosive and he is big,” Gary Kubiak said of Aiken. “I tell you, in all my years in the league, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen as competitive a situation as we have at receiver right now.”  I mean, I would have no chance telling John [Harbaugh] which five or six I would want right now, and that’s a good thing as a coach.”

If it sounds like Kubiak is excited about Aiken, it’s because he is.  The career journeyman has spent time with the Bills, Bears, and Patriots prior to this offseason, but has only appeared in three games and has zero catches.  But Aiken has been lighting up Ravens camp so far, making at least one great play in each practice.  And that may be enough to ensure he sews up a roster spot.
