Stock down: Dominique Franks

It was a scary sight when Jimmy Smith left Saturday night’s game with a chest injury after contesting a pass intended for Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.  Scary for a number of reasons – the Ravens are short at cornerback, they lack quality depth, and the resulting starting duo following the injury consisted of Chykie Brown and Dominique Franks.

Franks proceeded to get burned repeatedly, with the crowning jewel being the touchdown he gave up to Dez Bryant. While it’s fair to say that any corner will have a tough time covering Bryant this season, Franks basically just fell out of bounds before the pass even got close to Bryant, who easily hopped up in the air to snag the TD.  The Ravens need to go back to the drawing board and start scanning the waiver wire for corners, and quickly.
