Stock down: Torrey Smith
The man formerly known as the Raven’s number one receiver continues his downward spiral in a contract year. Torrey Smith’s biggest contribution to Sunday’s win was drawing a big pass interference penalty, and that’s about all you need to know. T. Smith continues to look lost in Gary Kubiak’s offense when he isn’t running out routes as a decoy.
T. Smith could only secure 2 of 7 targets for 25 yards against the Browns, with a whopping two yards coming after the catch. He also recorded his first drop of the season, for good measure. On the bright side, at least he got seven targets one week after only seeing two against the Steelers. On the down side, one of his intended targets was intercepted.
Ravens fans and fantasy owners are equally fuming over T. Smith’s ineffectiveness through three games in what was supposed to be a breakout year for the young man. It isn’t really the usage that is holding him back, more of the fact that he isn’t getting open. And when he does, he doesn’t seem to be on the same page with Joe Flacco.
We hope this isn’t a recurring theme and we still expect T. Smith to get better. But then again, we keep saying that every week.
