Highest Rated Defensive Players: Terrell Suggs (7.3), Brandon Williams (3.9), Jimmy Smith (2.9), Haloti Ngata (2.6), Timmy Jernigan (2.3)

Terrell Suggs catches a lot of flak for not recording a sack yet, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been dominant in other areas of his game.  Suggs has been a beast against the run, racking up 10 tackles and an astounding 8 stops.  The numbers tell us that the sacks will come as well, as Suggs has one quarterback hit and 4 hurries so far.

Brandon William’s strong play has carried over from the offseason, and he has been a force in the middle against the run. Ngata is better off at DT this season after manning the nose last year, and has been equally good against the run and the pass. In addition to his amazing diving interception against the Steelers, Ngata has batted down two passes and is way too athletic for a guy his size.

Jimmy Smith has been the only member of the secondary to receive a positive grade this season, which is a huge concern for the Ravens.  They desperately need Lardarius Webb to get healthy, and fast.  Jernigan remains on this list despite missing week three after he looked more like a veteran than a rookie in weeks one and two as a strong run defender.
