Stock up: Joe Flacco
Steve Smith is going to get most of the credit for Sunday’s dominating win, but Joe Flacco quietly had his best game in a long, long time. Flacco was essentially flawless as he completed 71% of his passes while throwing zero touchdowns and posting a rating of 137.4.
Granted, he had a clean pocket the entire game and Steve Smith to throw to. But Flacco spread the ball around like a pro, completing passes to seven different receivers. He went through his progressions and found the open guy while committing no turnovers.
People are sleeping on Flacco as he continues to adjust to a new offense, but he has quietly moved up the rankings since week one and is now ranked as the 10th best quarterback in the NFL by Pro Football Focus, ahead of the likes of Peyton Manning and Matthew Stafford. People can’t sleep on him forever.
