Stock up: Justin Forsett

The Ravens have made it quite clear this season that they intend to run a two back system. Up until week four, they were using Justin Forsett as a passing down and change of pace back, with either Lorenzo Taliaferro or Bernard Pierce getting the early down work. Week four brought some changes.

Even with Pierce healthy, he watched from the sideline as Forsett drew the start and split work almost evenly with Taliaferro – 14 carries to 15. This was a slight uptick over Forsett’s usual 9-11 carries that define a change of pace. He even got a goal line carry and converted it for the touchdown while breaking multiple tackles.

Are the Ravens simply playing the hot hand? Forsett has been the best back on this team and the most productive on a yards per carry average. Perhaps they are changing their philosophy a bit and will lean on the diminutive veteran a little more. Either way, his arrow is pointing up.
