Stock down: Steve Smith

The ageless wonder finally recorded a less than super human performance against the Colts after four big weeks in the stat column.  Going up against the underrated Vontae Davis, Smith had a tough time finding any room to run, though he did secure 5 of 7 targets in an efficient performance.

Smith came into week five leading the NFL in missed tackles, but had zero against the Colts.  He could only muster 5 yards after the catch for a mere 1.0 average, and committed a back breaking fumble that the Colts recovered.  The only real good news is that Smith didn’t drop any passes.

The Colts wisely used their best corner on the Raven’s biggest pass catching threat, and it worked to perfection.  Teams will understandably start to pay more attention to Smith Sr. after he has seemingly found the fountain of youth, but there are better days ahead.  Not every team has a corner of Davis’ caliber, after all.
