Stock up: Torrey Smith

It took six weeks, but we finally saw some signs of life from contract year and “number one” wide receiver Torrey Smith against the Bucs.  Torrey had an efficient day, securing 4 of his 5 targets for 51 yards and two touchdowns.  17 of those yards came after contact, and all four catches came against a different Bucs defender.

While Steve Smith still received more targets (6) and outproduced the younger Smith (110 yards), it was an encouraging performance.  Torrey received by far his best grade of the season by Pro Football Focus, and he looked like he knew what he was doing for the first time this season.  It’s a good building block performance for the remainder of the season.
