Stock down: Matt Elam
Matt Elam is a regular in our stock report. If he was assigned an actual value, it would be nearing penny stock status by now. One of only two defensive players to receive a negative grade from Pro Football Focus in week six, it was yet another big letdown by the young safety.
Elam was targeted twice and gave up two receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown. The Bucs and quarterback Mike Glennon are likely kicking themselves for not throwing at him more. For some reason, they went after Jimmy Smith a team high ten times and mostly left Elam alone. It’s one of the biggest reasons they got blown out. Other teams don’t typically make that mistake.
