It was a tough day for the Raven’s special teams unit, but it wasn’t all their fault.  The biggest story is losing long snapper Morgan Cox for the season with a torn ACL.  It’s an underrated loss at an underrated position, and one that will send the Ravens scurrying to find a replacement.
On the field it was a tough day as well. Â The unit racked up three penalties and Jacoby Jones muffed yet another punt. Â Jones has already seen his usage on offense diminish, and the time has come for his snaps on special teams to go down as well. Â The Ravens might be better off just using speedy rookie Michael Campanaro in his place.
Justin Tucker was 2 for 2 on field goals and had an OK day in kickoffs, recording 2 touchbacks with an average of 69.6 yards. Â Sam Koch had a pretty good day as well, averaging 39.3 yards despite having one punt sail out of bounds thanks to 30 mile per hour wind gusts.
