Run the Football

We talk about this every week, but concept of pounding the rock against the Dolphins takes on a special meaning after what the Jets did last week.  New York ran the ball a beefy 49 times for 277 yards (5.65 ypc) Monday night, which kept them in the game until the end and kept the Dolphin’s offense on the sidelines.

Granted, Rex Ryan was obviously trying to minimize the (negative) impact of quarterback Geno Smith.  But the Dolphins knew what was coming, yet couldn’t stop it.  They will have an equally hard time stopping the Ravens’ 5th ranked rushing attack.  The Ravens’ renewed focus to their ground game in recent weeks has also made things easy for Joe Flacco, who has completed his last 177 passes without throwing an interception.
