Welcome to the Daily Caw, where we round up all the latest Ravens news and notes from around the web.  Today we discuss the Ravens offseason need for a playmaking wide receiver, Matt Elam and C.J. Mosley’s desire to improve, the team’s coaching loss, and Owen Daniels wants to return next season.

Owen Daniels Hopes to Return to Ravens

Daniels thinks he has a couple of good years left in him, but his return to the team might hinge on what Gary Kubiak does.  Though he brought nothing special to the table this season, he was a solid and reliable pass catching presence.

Matt Elam, C.J. Mosley Look to Improve

While Mosley had a standout rookie season, Elam is looking more and more like a rare Ozzie Newsome draft bust these days.  Elam likely has one more shot at carving out a role on this defense before he is relegated to the bench for good.

Ravens Offseason Needs: Playmaking Wide Receiver

Though unlikely, a guy like Deymarius Thomas or Dez Bryant would really put the Ravens offense over the top.  It’s part of the reason why guys like Mel Kiper have them taking one in the draft.

Steve Spagnuolo Returns to the Giants

It surprised no one when the Giants decided to bring Spags back as their defensive coordinator.  It’s a loss for the Ravens after he did a great job of pulling together a decimated secondary this season, but one they should be able to fill with no problem.
