The draft process for an NFL team is a long and tedious one.  Scouts keep their eyes peeled on college players year round even though the actual hype begins shortly after the NFL’s regular season ends.  We are headed into full blown draft season, an exciting time that reaches its peak when teams are officially on the clock beginning April 30th.

This year we are tracking every player that the Baltimore Ravens talk to or reportedly show interest in. Whether it be a workout, interview, team visit, or simply a rumored bit of interest, we are going to cover them all.  We’ll take a look at each prospect and discuss whether or not that particular player might represent a good pick for the Ravens.

Today we feature a Clemson player for the second straight day, this time defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. A projected 3rd round pick, Jarrett is an absolute compact ball of power at 6’0″ and 290 pounds.  Jarrett uses his powerful frame to get consistent push and plays to the whistle on every play.  He has outstanding timing and his natural power and leverage routinely gives centers and guard nightmares.

The biggest knocks on Grady Jarrett are his size (in spite of his excellent build) and his tendency to wear down late in games.  Jarrett is likely maxed out for his particular frame and often relies on initial burst to create pass rush.  Regardless, the guy is build like a tank and he is very disruptive.  Jarrett may not be big enough to man the nose in an NFL 3-4 defense, but he does have the ability to be a difference maker in a rotational role.
