After meeting with a handful of pass rushing first round draft prospects recently, the Baltimore Ravens are turning their attention to another cornerback. And after drafting two Florida State players last year (Timmy Jernigan and Terrence Brooks), they are once again eyeing a Seminole – this time P.J. Williams, according to the Baltimore Sun.
The Ravens are already somewhat familiar with Williams after meeting with him at the Combine, where he ran a 4.57 40 yard dash and recorded a 40 inch vertical, 11 foot broad jump, and 12 reps on the bench. Williams was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection last season and the Defensive Most Valuable Player in the 2014 BCS National Championship Game.
A projected first or second round pick, we’ve touched base on Williams before as a potential target for the Ravens. It’s no secret that Ozzie loves college players with a winning pedigree and big game experience. Williams has an impressive combination of size, speed, fluidity, and physicality that make him an ideal outside corner prospect in the pros.
P.J. Williams will have to tone down his aggressiveness a bit in the NFL, as he tended to miss tackles in run support and gave up a few big players after jumping routes. But if you doubt this kid’s potential, may we direct your attention to the ridiculous box jump video he recently posted on Instagram? Enjoy.
