The Baltimore Ravens shocked the world late in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft when they selected Central Florida wide receiver Breshad Perriman. It was an un-Raven like move for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which because it was only the third time in team history that a receiver was taken in the first round.
Turns out Ozzie and Co. had Perriman ranked as a top 15 player in the draft, a guy whose raw talent and skills couldn’t be ignored. I would argue that he is the best receiving prospect that Joe Flacco and the Ravens have ever had, and I personally have confidence that he will reach a higher plateau than Torrey Smith ever did in purple and black.
At this point, it’s all just speculation. But there are a few facts we cannot deny. One, Perriman is bigger and faster than Smith. Two, both ran limited route trees in college and have struggled with drops at times. While Torrey never overcame those shortcomings in Baltimore, we are officially in “wait and see” mode with Breshad.
We, along with the rest of the world, gave the Breshad Perriman pick a pretty good grade following the draft’s first round. I have also seen some give the pick a very poor grade. Funny thing is, some of the doubters are the same ones who have been crying for the Ravens to take a top tier receiver in the draft for quite some time.
So we turned to you, the fans, to find out what you thought about the pick. Turns out, the vast majority agree with us, with 46% giving the Breshad Perriman pick a “B.” Almost as prominent, 40% thought the pick was a home run, giving it an “A.” 11% gave it a “C,” 3% a “D,” and no one thought the pick was a “F”ailure.

It’s clear that the overwhelming majority feel like Breshad Perriman was a solid choice for the Ravens. One thing that cannot be denied is that while some would have preferred for the team to go corner here, there just wasn’t a one worth taking at 26. I for one applaud the Ravens for sticking to their guns and their draft board.
So while we are going to have to wait one, two, or even three years to find out if Breshad Perriman will live up to his draft status, the early consensus is pretty positive. Let’s hope the young man can silence the (few) doubters out there, preferably in year one.
